In 1962, the organization selected San Francisco for its Annual Conference, taking NASPO to the West for the first time. Presentations at the meeting included:
- the Chief of the Economic Section, Antitrust Division, U.S. Department of Justice, describing the Department's efforts to combat identical bidding;
- the Attorney General of California who spoke about ethics in purchasing;
- the Chief Deputy Purchasing Agent, Los Angeles County, about cooperative purchasing.
