How to Market to State Governments Meeting A Success Again This Year

The National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO) convened once again for its’ annual How to Market to State Governments Meeting.  Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was the site for this year’s conference which took place March 29-31.
Attendees heard motivating messages from Coach Ken Carter and Jia Jang.  NASPO conducted a new, shorter session style with Procurement Primers. Messages on avoiding common procurement pitfalls were presented by four speakers each in fifteen minutes or less.
Suppliers had an opportunity to hear directly from state procurement officials during both the popular One-on-One sessions as well as the newly reformatted regional roundtables. The NASPO Top 10 Focus Areas for State Procurement provided an excellent base-line for discussions around IT procurements, preferences, spend analytics, and the strategic role of state central procurement.
The One-on-One sessions once again proved to be unique opportunities for suppliers to network face to face with state procurement staff.  These concise yet informative appointments are beneficial to both sides of the table. Increasing communication and eliminating road blocks to successful partnerships were prevalent themes throughout the NASPO conference.
