Director Biography:
Greg Smith is the Administrator and Chief Procurement Officer of the Nevada State Purchasing Division. Greg assumed this role in July 2003, after serving as the agency’s Deputy Administrator in charge of Services Procurement. Prior to joining state government, Greg was President of a west coast pizza chain with 57 stores operating in California, Nevada and Washington. Greg enjoys golf and politics. He served two (2) terms on the Carson City Board of Supervisors in the 90’s and served as Mayor Pro-Tem. Greg has chaired numerous Northern Nevada Boards and Commissions, including Chairman of the Carson City RTC, Chairman of the Water Sub-Conservancy Dist. (7 counties), Chairman of the Carson City Charter Review Committee, Governor’s Appointee and Chairman of the state’s Employment Management Committee (EMC).
He currently serves as the Chairman of the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA) and is the immediate Past-President of the National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO).
