WELCOME


NASPO’s Annual Conference is a time for members to network and learn from their peers about procurement successes, issues and initiatives in other states as well as other governmental jurisdictions. It is also a time when NASPO conducts official business regarding the future direction of the organization. Below is some additional information regarding this year’s conference that attendees may find helpful.

(NOTE:  This conference is only open to public sector procurement professionals & other non-profit representatives.  Vendors & private sector representatives may not attend this conference)

General Information 
The NASPO Board of Directors has approved funding for two (2) individuals from each state to attend the 2009 Annual Conference. This includes complimentary registration, five nights lodging (arriving Sunday, September 20 and departing Friday, September 25) and transportation, plus reimbursement for meals and incidentals per the NASPO Travel Policy. Additional state attendees are welcome, but must pay the $575.00 registration fee (see fee schedule below) as well as travel expenses to attend the meeting. In addition, the Board has elected to waive Life and Honorary Members registration fees for 2009. Life and Honorary Members are responsible for their own travel expenses to attend the meeting. Funding is based on attendees participating in all scheduled conference events.  

Registration Fees:

  • Primary State Attendee (two per state) - COMPLIMENTARY
  • Life and Honorary Member - COMPLIMENTARY
  • Additional State or Associate Member - $575.00
  • Guest - $125.00

Reimbursement Policy 
NASPO funding is based on attendees participating in all scheduled conference events. Reimbursement requests should be submitted to NASPO no later than sixty (60) days after the last day of the conference. All requests for reimbursement should be itemized on the NASPO reimbursement form and must be accompanied by actual receipts. Please include who the reimbursement needs to be made payable to as well as the mailing address. All requests should be submitted to Julie Gudlewski via mail, email or fax.

NORTH SHORE

Cal-Neva Lodge - Beautifully restored historic casino at Crystal Bay, straddling 2 state borders. Indian Room houses Washoe Indian historical display. (775) 832-4000.

Gatekeeper’s Log Cabin - Museum featuring a collection of early Tahoe memorabilia and Indian baskets. Next to Fanny Bridge at the "Y" in Tahoe City at William B. Layton Park. Free Admission (530) 583-1762.

Kings Beach Plaza - Beautiful new public park at the corner of Coon St. & Hwy. 28. Picnic & BBQ areas, public piers, playground and promenades.

Watson Cabin - Built in 1909 by Robert Montgomery Watson, this living museum depicts life at Tahoe at the turn of the century. Tours are conducted by guides dressed in period costumes. Located on North Lake Blvd., across from the Family Tree in Tahoe City. Open noon to 4pm.

Fanny Bridge - Highway Bridge over the Truckee River at the "Y" in Tahoe City. Watch fish frolic below the gates of Lake Tahoe’s only outlet.

Scenic Highway 431 Overlook - This pull-out on the Mt. Rose Highway provides plaques pointing out major peaks and one of the best photo opportunities for a panoramic view of Lake Tahoe.

Squaw Valley - The torch from the 1960 Olympics marks the entrance on Hwy. 89 to the scenic valley with its magnificent views, picturesque meadows, and meandering Squaw Creek.

Tahoe Tessie’s Lake Tahoe Monster Museum - Open July 1 thru mid Sept. at 8608 No. Lake Blvd. in King Beach. Interesting exhibits, toys & gift shop. Daily appearances by costumed dinosaur. Fun for the whole family. FREE admission. (530) 546-8774 

WEST SHORE

Sugar Pine Point State Park - Off Hwy. 89, one mile North of Meeks Bay. Pier, trails, camping. Tour the Ehrman Mansion and General Phipps Cabin. (530) 525-7982.

D.L. Bliss State Park - Off Hwy. 89 between Emerald Bay and Meeks Bay. Beach, Trails, camping. (530) 525-7277.

Emerald Bay State Park - Off Hwy. 89 at Emerald Bay. Beach, trails, boat camping, guided tours of Vikingsholm Castle in July and August. (530) 541-3030.

Vikingsholm Castle - Authentic Scandinavian castle built in 1928, open for summer tours. Walk down 1 mile path.

SOUTH SHORE

Tallac Historic Site - 74-acre site featuring Pope, Valhalla and McGonagle Estates. Art exhibits, weekend entertainment (see Calendar of Events). Kiva Picnic Area. Hwy. 89, South Lake Tahoe (530) 542-2787.

Washoe Indian Cultural Foundation Exhibit - Located at the Tallac Historic Site, the display includes housing, artifacts and pictures. A short slide presentation is also offered.

Taylor Creek Stream Profile Chamber - U.S. Forest Service Facility off Hwy. 89, North of South Lake Tahoe. Watch annual run of the Kokanee Salmon in October. Amphitheater, nature talks by rangers. (530) 573-2600.

Lake Tahoe Historical Society Museum - Historical photos, pioneer artifacts and Indian relics. Next to South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, Hwy. 50, SLT (530) 541-5458.

EAST SHORE

Sand Harbor State Park - Beaches, Boat and auto parking, Boat launch. Off Hwy. 28, 4 miles south of Incline Village. (775) 831-0494.

Cave Rock - 200’ tunnel on Hwy. 50 penetrates this spot once held scared by Washoe Indians. Reputed to sit above the home of the legendary monster "Tahoe Tessie".
